INFORMATION
•Photos will be taken on Saturday, April 10th.
•Ages K4 - 6th grade boys and girls (co-ed)
•The registration fee covers jersey, shorts, socks, water bottle, devotional materials, and an end of season award. Nothing else to pay for later!
•Parents will need to purchase shin guards and cleats for their child at Walmart or Academy Sports, etc.
•Everyone who signs up gets to play and everyone has equal playing time.
•Children will be able to try on sample jerseys at the evaluations to ensure you are ordering the correct size.
•Soccer fields are located behind Woodridge Baptist Church - 2700 Schillinger Road South, Mobile, AL 36695
•The director of Upward Soccer is Wayne Gautney (251) 633-6000 ext. 28 or cell (251) 776-4912.
•Practices begin the week of February 22, 2010.
•The first game day is Saturday, March 13th.
•The last game day will be Saturday, May 8th. Our end of season awards event is that same night (May 8th) at 6:00 pm in the church gym.
•We need parents who can volunteer to be coaches, assistant coaches, team moms, and who can help serve in the concessions stand.
•Practice nights will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday. When you fill out the registration form, there is a place for you to mark one of the practice nights that absolutely will not work in your schedule. We will do our very best to honor that request. Also, if you will be driving another player to practice (same age group as your own child) be sure to check “carpool link” box and give the name(s) of the other child(ren).
•The evaluations are not “try-outs” because every child who registers will play. The evaluations allow us to gauge talent levels and try to evenly distribute the talent when we draft our teams.
•Upward is an instructional league, not a competitive league. There are no play-offs (with the exception of 5th & 6th graders), no “all-star” teams and no championships. The season is 7 to 8 weeks, followed by the Awards celebration.
•We will not tolerate parents arguing with referees or other disruptive behavior that is detrimental to an atmosphere of encouragement and fun. If an incident occurs, you may be asked to leave the church property.
•All coaches, referees, concessions workers, and others are volunteers. No one is paid.
